This study presents an analysis of energy and water consumption in an apartment building through a comprehensive case study.Data on energy consumption, water usage, and relevant building characteristics are collected and analyzed.
A parametric analysis indicates that building rotation can increase or decrease energy consumption up to 4.0 kWh/m2/month or 5.6 kWh/m2/month, depending on the apartment's location.
In terms of energy consumption, efficiency of the air exchange mode largely depends on occupancy schedule and air distribution in time and space. The application of air exchange schedule approach makes more sense in case when individual heating control is carried out.

I compared the energy consumption of Airbnb guests versus their host, in the same appartment, during 2022. It appears that guests do in fact consume more energy than hosts. The data I used is available to any Airbnb host. I also open-sourced all the code I wrote for this analysis.
